Sunshine and the service provided by
tanning beds have been getting increasingly positive press in
2008. In January The Guardian reported that solar rays can
help protect against some cancers and heart disease in an
article titled Enjoy the
Sun on Doctor’s Orders. That same month the New
Scientist stated: “Sunshine prevents more deaths than it
causes; sunshine has a protective effect overall because it
helps to create vitamin D.” And in February The New York Times
revealed that “the so-called sunshine vitamin is poised to
become the nutrient of the decade.” The tide of research is
rethinking the effects of sunlight, and emphasizing the
benefits of getting enough of it, especially in northern
latitudes, in order to get the recommended dosage of vitamin
D.

Doug Clarke, president of
International Tanning Technologies and manufacturer of the
Sunsource brand of tanning beds, was named Businessman of the
Year by the Brook Park, Ohio, Chamber of Commerce at the Best
of Brook Park Community Recognition Dinner April
17th at the I-X Center Ballroom. Mr. Clarke
re-located his business group, including UV Lighting, Light
Bulb Supply, and Ace Lighting, to their new forty-five
thousand square-foot facility in Brook Park in
2000.

International Tanning Technologies
refreshed its web site (www.sunsourceusa.com) in early April,
bringing on board a bright new look and clean graphics, making
it easier to read and navigate. “We wanted to incorporate some
of the colors and elements of clean water and sunshine in the
look of the site, to reflect our industry,” said Mike
Rumancik, International Tanning Technologies’s web designer. Some new features of the site
include service updates, ask the expert, web price quotes,
links, and a parts page.
